Tesla: From Excel to Odoo
Excel-based working became an Odoo environment covering Tesla Developments’ property business and the construction of its own developments.
About Tesla Developments
Tesla Developments is an Egyptian property developer whose operating scope includes both real estate development and the construction of its own projects. Its ERP requirements therefore extend beyond property sales into the project work, materials and purchasing that support delivery. Before Odoo, the business worked with Excel. Archer Solutions implemented a 20-user Odoo scope spanning Real Estate, Sales, Accounting, Projects, Inventory and Purchase. The distinguishing feature of this case is the fit between that coverage and Tesla’s operating needs: a developer-side real estate and construction implementation, delivered without unnecessary module complexity.
Business Challenges
- Move from Excel-based working to an ERP environment that covers the company’s property development and construction activities.
- Address real estate, sales and accounting together, so the implementation covers the commercial and financial side of the business.
- Include project work, materials and purchasing for the developments Tesla builds itself, rather than limit the scope to property sales.
- Provide the operating coverage needed by 20 users without making an unnecessarily complex module setup a condition of adopting ERP.
ERP Solution Delivered
Archer Solutions implemented Odoo for 20 Tesla Developments users, replacing an Excel-based starting point with an ERP environment covering the property business and the construction of its own developments. Real Estate, Sales and Accounting form the commercial and financial part of the scope, bringing property operations, sales activity and accounting into the same implementation. Projects, Inventory and Purchase cover the developer’s project work, materials and procurement. Construction therefore sits within the same developer-side scope as the property, commercial and financial operations. The six-module scope goes beyond a sales-only system while remaining proportionate to the business. Tesla did not need unnecessary module complexity to address these requirements. Its implementation demonstrates a practical distinction: right-sized ERP can cover several business functions without making the system more complex than the work requires.
Implementation Approach
Tesla’s move from Excel to Odoo was shaped around its real estate and developer-side construction work for a 20-user team. Analysis established the required scope; implementation, UAT, starting-data preparation, training and go-live support made that scope usable without unnecessary module complexity.
